Beyond the Famous Spots —
A Hidden Rooftop BBQ in Sindang
If you’re visiting Seoul in spring or fall,
you’ll probably search for sindang outdoor bbq
or rooftop dining spots.
That’s how I ended up here.
Many travelers already know famous spots like
Dalmaji Plaza BBQ or Sancheong BBQ Garden in Euljiro.
But today, I’m introducing a more
hidden rooftop BBQ spot in Sindang.

Taetae Samgyeop Sindang 2nd Branch:
a place built inside a renovated Korean house,
with a rooftop that feels more like a private
hideout than a tourist attraction.
Taetae Samgyeop Sindang
2nd Branch – Basic Info
(Samgyeop=pork belly)

📍 Address: 373-3 Toegye-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul
🚶Sindang Station (line 2,6), Exit 9, 3min by walk
⏰ Hours: 12:00–23:00 (Break time 15:00–16:00)
❌ Reservation: Not available (walk-in only, Tableling kiosk)
🌍 Foreigner-friendly: English / Japanese / Chinese kiosk support,
luggage storage available
No Reservations, Just a Queue

I arrived around 6 PM on a weekday.
There was already a line.
Taetae Samgyeop doesn’t take reservations.
Everything starts at a Tableling kiosk in front of the building
the system supports English, Japanese, and Chinese.

When you register, you’ll see two seating options:
✔️Indoor or Outdoor.
👉 Indoor = faster
👉 Outdoor = the real experience (recommended)
You might wait a little longer,
but the rooftop is the whole point of coming here.
While I waited, I walked around the neighborhood.
Sindang has a different rhythm compared to Euljiro
less polished, more lived-in.
By the time the text notification came through,
the sun had already gone down.
Rooftop Yajang Vibe in Sindang
The moment you step onto the rooftop,
you understand why people wait
to visit Sindang Outdoor BBQ

Most outdoor BBQ spots in Seoul are crammed
into narrow alleys or plaza.
This one opens up to the street, with no walls blocking the view.
It’s quieter, more relaxed, and because there’s
only one restaurant in the space,
everyone shares the same atmosphere.
It feels less like a commercial hotspot and
more like a neighborhood gathering place
Menu at Taetae Samgyeop
Simple but Focused
- Pork Belly: 17,000 KRW (order two portion)
- Doenjang Stew: 6,000 KRW
- Jajangmyeon: 7,000 KRW
- Fried Rice: 5,000 KRW
- Naengmyeon: 7,000 KRW
One thing I appreciated about Taetae Samgyeop is
how straightforward the menu is.
There’s really only one Main menu to order: pork belly

The table comes set with kimchi, minari, bean sprouts,
sauces, and leafy greens
all free-refill.
What to Order at Sindang Outdoor BBQ
Start with: 2 portions of samgyeopsal
Soju + beer (Somaek)
Then add: Fried rice, Doenjang stew

When the meat hits the grill, you toss in the kimchi
and minari alongside it.
As the pork fat renders, everything starts to cook together,
and the flavor builds on its own.
If you’ve had Korean BBQ before,
you know exactly what that moment tastes like.

The drinks flow as naturally as the food at a place like this.
Soju, beer, somaek, it all pairs well with the rooftop air.
Fried Rice, Doenjang stew and an Honest Take
We ordered fried rice and doenjang stew to finish.
Actually, many customer orders ‘Jajangmyeon’
This is a signature dish.
But my second stop is a Chinese restaurant
I ordered fried rice and doenjang jjigae to finish off

Honestly, the light dishes were decent
but unremarkable.
Not bad — just average.
But that’s not really why you come here.
You come for the air, the rooftop, and the pace of the night.
Where to Go After Dinner in Sindang
The night doesn’t have to end with the BBQ.
The neighborhood has a few good spots worth checking out:
- Jusindang :
a modern Korean bar specializing in cocktail - Sindang Central Market :
great for late-night local food - Sindang Tteokbokki Town:
a classic street food stretch nearby
Or If you’re craving a spicy Korean broth,
I recommend checking out Hani Kalguksu in Sindang.
It’s a local favorite known for its rich, hearty noodle soup
perfect after a rooftop BBQ and drinks.

Is Taetae Samgyeop Worth the Wait?
Waiting an hour without a reservation isn’t for everyone.
But if you’re looking for something
beyond the usual tourist trail,
this Sindang Outdoor BBQ spot is worth it
Not because it has the best food in Seoul,
but because it offers something harder to find:
a slower, more personal kind of night.

Practical Tips Before You Go
✔️After 8 PM, the wait tends to get shorter
✔️Best visited with 2–4 people
✔️Focus on the meat and drinks — that’s the core experience
✔️Think of this as a first stop, not the full night
If the idea of eating top-quality sirloin
in a worn-in, decades-old Korean diner appeals to you
,not a fancy restaurant,
just a place that’s been doing one thing
right since the 1980s — Sanbul Deungsim in Euljiro
is the kind of place that’s hard to forget
