Busan has plenty of yajang (outdoor tent bar) spots, but there’s one where you can dip your hands and feet into the lapping seawater while enjoying seafood ramen and a daytime drink — a true K-vibe local favorite. It’s incredibly famous among locals, but still fairly unknown to foreign visitors. Let me introduce you to Yeongdo Haenyeochon.
Yeongdo Haenyeochon Info in Busan
Yeongdo is located to the lower left of Busan Station. If Centum City, Gwangan-dong, and Haeundae — the well-known tourist areas — sit to the right of Busan Station, then Nampo-dong and Jagalchi Market are to the left, and Yeongdo is a bit further down, across the bridge to the left.

The reason Yeongdo Haenyeochon became so famous is its raw, unfiltered yajang atmosphere — the haenyeo (female divers) catch the seafood fresh, and you get to eat it right by the sea, dipping your hands and feet into the lapping waves.
This is exactly that atmosphere! It’s a uniquely Yeongdo Haenyeochon vibe that’s hard to find anywhere else. Spring and fall are especially great, but locals visit even in winter, bundled up in padded coats, just to enjoy this atmosphere.
Yeongdo Haenyeochon Menu & Recommended Dishes
Once you step inside Yeongdo Haenyeochon, you’ll find three seafood pojangmacha-style stalls, numbered 1, 2, and 3. Each has a large tank filled with freshly caught seafood, and a fridge stocked with drinks and alcohol. The menus at all three stalls are nearly identical, so just order from whichever has the shortest line. Only cash and bank transfer are accepted.

When you order, your food comes out on a big silver tray — this is the true yajang vibe! Drinks are self-serve from the fridge, and they’re brought to you in a basket of ice so you can enjoy them cold even outdoors.
1. Kimbap & Sea Urchin Roe (Ungai) — 20,000 KRW
This is the number one dish that made Yeongdo Haenyeochon famous. You order 2 rolls of kimbap and a plate of sea urchin roe, then top the kimbap with the roe. The kimbap itself tastes exactly like the kimbap you already know — a familiar, comforting flavor anyone can enjoy. But combined with the creamy, fresh sea urchin roe, it’s an amazing combination. Eating it right by the sea somehow makes it taste even better. One bite of uni kimbap, one shot of somaek (soju + beer)!
2. Haemul Ramen (Seafood Ramen) — 10,000 KRW
Cooked over a powerful stove, this ramen has chewier, more flavorful noodles. It’s loaded with octopus, clams, shrimp, and other seafood, and seems to have a secret seasoning added, giving it a spicier kick. It’s already delicious on its own, but eating it with the sea breeze on your face makes the soju go down even easier.
3. Godong (Whelk) — 10,000 KRW
Godong is another dish I understand is eaten mostly in Korea. The whelks are steamed hot, then you pull the meat out using a wire skewer. It has a slightly bitter yet chewy texture — a new experience for many.
Yeongdo Haenyeochon Atmosphere & Outdoor Seating (Yajang)
There are indoor pojangmacha-style seats inside the building, but the real draw of Yeongdo Haenyeochon is the yajang, the outdoor seating. Families with children can use the slightly safer terrace seats inside the building. But if you want to truly experience the vibe, you need to head straight for this rock area. Scattered across the rocks are parasols and plastic chairs. It really is the kind of scene you’d only expect to see in a movie.
The best of the best are the seats right at the water’s edge. Competition for these seats is fierce, so you’ll just have to hope for good luck.
The shallow waves keep rolling in, creating the perfect atmosphere! It might be a bit far from the main tourist areas, but it’s absolutely worth the trip.
Places to Visit Near Yeongdo Haenyeochon
These days, many travelers spend a half-day exploring Yeongdo itself. It has a charming, quaint appeal that’s different from Busan’s more famous tourist spots. Here are a few places worth visiting along with a late lunch at Yeongdo Haenyeochon.
1) Huinnyeoul Culture Village
I like to describe this as the “Santorini of Korea.” On a hillside facing the sea, there are colorful, quaint houses that make for great photos. There are small shops and cafes, and as you wander the narrow alleys browsing the shops, you’ll suddenly come across an open view of the sea — that’s part of the fun of walking through this village. Don’t miss the Huinnyeoul Observatory, where you can take in the whole coastline in one view. Since this is a place where residents actually live, be mindful to keep noise down while exploring.
2) Cafe Bielle
This is an ocean-view cafe located in Huinnyeoul Culture Village. From the terrace, you get a full view of the high-rise buildings across the street in Yeongdo. They also serve a variety of delicious cakes, breads, and drinks, making it a great spot to rest while visiting Yeongdo.
Final Honest Review of Yeongdo Haenyeochon
I’ve introduced many great restaurants in Busan in my previous posts, but among them, Yeongdo Haenyeochon is the place with the strongest humble, analog charm. It’s open in the evening too, but it’s even better to visit for a light meal during the day.
If your time in Busan is short but you want to hit multiple yajang hotspots, don’t overthink it
— go with lunch at Yeongdo Haenyeochon, dinner at Hakri Breakwater, and dwaeji gukbap the next morning for your hangover cure.
It’ll be a whole new kind of experience in Korea.
